We like to serve these drinks with easy to make spicy food like our Jerk Chicken or our Roasted Shrimp with Chipotle Sauce. Spicy food pairs perfectly with this sweet watermelon slush!
Jump to RecipeI like to puree a lot of watermelon during the summer when it is plentiful, and then keep it in the freezer (so I have it all winter for drinks).
To puree:
There are lots of fun ways to use fruit purees, such as in daiquiris, margaritas Mojitos, martinis, and lemonade.
This cocktail tastes best when it’s very cold so keep your vodka in the freezer if possible. If you have time, also chill your cocktail glass. If preparing everything at room temperature I recommend adding 2-3 ice cubes to the blender to chill the ingredients down.
Watermelon can be very sweet or a bit bland, depending on the time of the year, so be sure to taste test your puree. If it’s a little bland you can add a little more simple syrup to this cocktail to sweeten it up. For more details on making easy homemade simple syrup refer to our Blackberry Champagne Cocktail recipe.
Be sure to use freshly squeezed lime juice, but don’t forget to zest your lime first to use for garnish. The lime juice is important to this watermelon and vodka cocktail because it helps balance the sweetness of the watermelon.
Watermelon is so beautiful so be sure to garnish with a piece on the side of your cocktail glass and add a sprinkle of lime zest.
It’s easy to add this puree to a martini glass to make a delicious watermelon cosmopolitan!

Beautiful blueberries are a great way to serve a drink that isn’t just tasty but also gorgeous! Vodka is combined with infused blueberry simple syrup and crushed ice. These vodka and blueberry cocktails are easy and perfect for a night in or great for cocktails for a crowd.
Jump to RecipeTo begin you will need to make a blueberry simple syrup, which takes just a few minutes to put together. The simple syrup will be the base of your drink.
The recipe below makes a full batch of the syrup (enough for about 4 cocktails) but the drink recipe is for just one cocktail. If you don’t use all of it you can store it up to 1-month, in a tightly sealed mason jar, in the refrigerator.
This simple syrup is so versatile that you can substitute any fruit in place of the blueberries. Don’t worry if your favorite fruit isn’t in season, just grab a bag of frozen fruit and use that instead. Try raspberries, blackberries, strawberries or cherries.
The great thing about vodka is that it pairs well with any type of fruit and because it has no color your drink takes on the beautiful hue of your fruit.
Be sure all of your ingredients are cold before you start. I keep my vodka in the freezer, so my drinks are always icy cold!
You will need the following ingredients:
If you have kids at your party or don’t want alcohol you can make a Blueberry Mocktail by simply omitting the vodka!
To serve the drinks choose a short 8-ounce glass. I like to garnish with any edible flowers or shrubs I may have at the time in my garden. Rosemary sprigs always look nice. Try topping drinks with a few floating blueberries.
Frozen blueberries are a great way to garnish and help keep your drinks cold. If you find the drink a bit too sweet just add a squeeze of fresh lemon.
